Is it really free?
Yes. FanoutFox is free, with no premium tier, no trial and no account. It's a research tool we wanted to exist.
Does my data leave the browser?
No. Everything runs locally. Captures are stored in your browser's own storage and never uploaded. The only network calls are two optional lookups, Ahrefs domain ratings and Reddit thread stats, and you can switch both off.
Which engines does it support?
ChatGPT today. Perplexity and Gemini are planned. The capture format is engine-agnostic, so your saved sessions will carry over.
What is GEO?
Generative Engine Optimisation: getting your brand picked, cited and mentioned inside AI answers, rather than ranked on a results page. It's the successor discipline to classic SEO for AI search.
Do you see my ChatGPT login?
No. FanoutFox reads the session token your browser already holds, uses it once to fetch your own conversation data, then discards it. It's never stored or transmitted anywhere.
Will it slow ChatGPT down?
No. FanoutFox does nothing until you click the fox. It doesn't intercept, proxy or modify your conversations.
Can I use it for client work?
Yes. Capture answers for client queries, pin them, re-run later and diff who entered or left. Many users run it as a lightweight GEO rank tracker across client brands.
